Carnaval 2010

I attended 'Carnival' & watched the parade on Sunday morning w/friends & I must say I was very dissappointed. Years ago I used to belong to a contingent, a West Indian group, was a marketing director for the group,made & dress in costume & dance down the street of the parade & it was so much better in those days, & much more fun! Mecca origination had it so well organized! There used to be thousands of people, & lots of TV coverage. What happened?? I noticed that it hardly got TV coverage, no mention of the time of the parade, or much about the Carnival at all. What a shame!! I rode the bus & there were lots of tourists & people asking me about where was the parade & what time did it start. I felt like I was actually marketing the whole thing early Sunday morning. The crowd attendance was so much less this year & was very poor, as we had wonderful warm sunny weather for it. I think it's because of the 'new' organization. What a shame! Very dissappointing! Has the economy spoilt this too?
